Calder Way Project Update April 2, 2026
/Dear property owners, business managers, and other stakeholders:
The Borough of State College is writing to provide you with the latest updates regarding Phase 2 of the Calder Way Improvement Project.
This past week the contractor, TerraWorks completed service connections in the buildings between South Fraser Street and South Burrowes Street. With the completion of service connections, water and sanitary sewer is complete between South Fraser Street and South Burrowes Street.
Conduit installation between South Fraser Street and South Burrowes Street began this week and will continue into next week. The contractor will also begin restoration in the area. This includes pouring the curb and sidewalk. The contractor will also begin removing the old water main.
Calder Way from South Fraser Street to Burrowes Street remains closed to vehicular traffic. The loading dock at the Fraser Centre also remains closed. For delivery purposes, shipments can still be made via Beaver Avenue, South Fraser Street, or Miller Alley. However, drivers will need to use New Alley to exit to Burrowes Street if they are unloaded on Miller Alley.
The Borough wants to emphasize that primary communications will be sent via email through the Calder Way Communications list. Weekly updates will be provided on Thursday afternoons, and there will be times you will receive more than one update per week as conditions change.
Please remember that projects of this nature are fluid and often change, and they can be impacted by inclement weather. You will be updated in a timely manner about these changes as they are received.
