Calder Way Project Updated March 19, 2026
/Dear property owners, business managers, and other stakeholders:
The Borough of State College is writing to provide you with the latest updates regarding Phase 2 of the Calder Way Improvement Project.
This past week the Phase 2 contractor, TerraWorks continued installing water lines from South Fraser Street to South Burrowes Street. The contractor also installed the first stormwater structure closest to South Fraser Street.
Next week the contractor is tentatively planning on installing water service lines to the buildings between South Fraser Street and South Burrowes Street. They are also planning to install the second stormwater structure at the end of Miller Alley. Borough staff were notified that this installation of the stormwater structure may take more than a day, which may result in some changes to refuse collection. Brough staff and the contractor are meeting early Monday morning, and correspondence will follow for anyone who may be impacted.
Calder Way from South Fraser Street to Burrowes Street remains closed to vehicular traffic. The loading dock at the Fraser Centre also remains closed. For delivery purposes, shipments can still be made via Beaver Avenue, South Fraser Street, or Miller Alley. However, drivers will need to use New Alley to exit to Burrowes Street if they are unloaded on Miller Alley.
The Borough wants to emphasize that primary communications will be sent via email through the Calder Way Communications list. Weekly updates will be provided on Thursday afternoons, and there will be times you will receive more than one update per week as conditions change.
Please remember that projects of this nature are fluid and often change, and they can be impacted by inclement weather. You will be updated in a timely manner about these changes as they are received.
