Calder Way Project Update April 16, 2025
/Dear property owners, business managers, and other stakeholders:
The Borough of State College is writing to provide you with the latest updates regarding Phase 2 of the Calder Way Improvement Project.
This past week the contractor, TerraWorks worked on several tasks including conduit, water and paving. Ameron Construction was also on site this week pouring the stamped concrete sidewalk outside of Planet Fitness.
The loading dock at the Fraser Centre will be open beginning Friday, April 17. The contractor will be placing signs as they would like the section from South Fraser Street to Miller Alley to be used for deliveries only. With the area opening, parking passes will also soon be collected so employees can return to parking in their designated spaces. I will be in contact with individuals when we are ready to collect them.
Next week the contractor will begin restoration on the sidewalk between Sweet Tooth Bakery and 298 West Calder Way. Due to the restoration work, sidewalk closure signs will be placed directing pedestrians to New Alley. Those going to 119 South Burrowes Street will have access to the building.
Water line replacement will also be occurring on South Burrowes Street. With this work, a lane restriction will be in place beginning Monday, April 20 and last until at least Wednesday afternoon. Those impacted by the water work have been notified individually by the contractor and the water authority.
The Borough wants to emphasize that primary communications will be sent via email through the Calder Way Communications list. Weekly updates will be provided on Thursday afternoons, and there will be times you will receive more than one update per week as conditions change.
Please remember that projects of this nature are fluid and often change, and they can be impacted by inclement weather. You will be updated in a timely manner about these changes as they are received.
